EDUCATION

B.A. Neuroscience, Colgate University, Hamilton, NY

At Colgate, Abby was first introduced to neuroscience research in Dr. Jun Yoshino’s lab where she studied the effects of Fluoxetine on the inflammatory responses of glial cells. Later, during her senior year, she spent six months at the NIH in Dr. Matthew Kelley’s cochlear development lab investigating the role of location in determining cellular fate within the cochlea.

Following graduation from Colgate, Abby returned to the NIH to perform 2 years of research in Dr. Carolyn Beebe-Smith’s lab studying the role of sleep in the behavioral deficits observed in the mouse model of Fragile X Syndrome.

Abby then began her MD/PhD at Tufts in 2019.  As a student in the Moss Lab, she is investigating the effects of neurosteroids on GABA A receptor subunit composition.

Outside of the lab, Abby enjoys exploring Boston, trying new restaurants, binging the latest TV shows, visiting art museums, traveling with friends, and taking any kind of dance-cardio workout class
