BSc Pharmacology, University College London, United Kingdom
MSc Neuroscience, University College London, United Kingdom
PhD, Biochemical Pharmacology, Medical University Innsbruck, Innsbruck, Austria
Josephine is an AstraZeneca-Tufts Postdoctoral Scientist in the Moss lab.
Josephine obtained her Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Science thesis projects on nicotinic acetylcholine receptors and voltage gated calcium channels in the laboratories of Professor Neil Millar at University College London and Professor Annette Dolphin also at University College London, respectively. Her work there nurtured her interest on ion channel research and their physiological roles. Josephine did her Ph.D. thesis in the laboratory of Professor Manfred Grabner at Innsbruck Medical University. She looked into the activity and potential role of calcium activated chloride channel in zebrafish skeletal muscle excitation-contraction coupling.
Here at Tufts, she is investigating the role of glutamine synthetase, an important enzyme involved in the glutamate-glutamine cycle in CNS, in supporting neurotransmission. Outside of the laboratory, Josephine enjoys playing the piano, doing lion dancing, and is working toward relearning playing the flute.
